Sunderland
Workshop "Structural Techniques"
14 September 2006

Workshop "Structural Techniques" 14 September 2006 With funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, the SGT was able to introduce for the first time tutorial workshops at one of our conferences. These workshops, on the first and last days of the 8th ESG conference at Sunderland, were aimed at postgraduate students and other researchers getting involved in a field of work new to them. The Structural Techniques Workshop was intended to provide background to the experimental techniques used by researchers presenting work at the main conference. We have asked speakers who are experts in a particular structural technique and have an interest in glass science from across Europe to contribute a tutorial lecture. All speakers have agreed to make their presentation available on this website free of charge for the benefit of the glass science community, for which we are very grateful. Please download any or all of the presentations below for personal use. If you wish to use any of the material in presentations or other work of your own, please seek the relevant author's permission first. The sample downloads contain the first few pages of each presentation to allow users on slow connections to decide if it's worth their while downloading the full presentation.

The Special Interest Group on Amorphous Structure of the SGT is keen to grow a tutorial resource for postgraduate students from the material nucleated by this workshop. We intend to hold similar workshops at future SGT meetings. If you would like to request a topic or contribute a presentation, please get in touch with the SIG through Dr Rudi Winter, Materials Physics, University of Wales Aberystwyth.
